The Power of the Gospel

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.” Romans 1:16-17

The-GospelThe gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes.  It is “the message of truth” that saves all who place their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

In Him (Christ), you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation – having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.  Ephesians 1:13-14

The Apostle Paul, who was “set apart for the gospel of God” (Romans 1:1), proclaimed this message of truth wherever he travelled after his conversion on the road to Damascus.  Whether in Rome: “So, for my part, I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome” (Romans 1:15).  In Corinth: “I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it” (1 Corinthians 9:23).  In Galatia: “For I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man.  For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ” (Galatians 1:11-12).  In Ephesus: “And pray on my behalf, that the utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel” (Ephesians 6:19).  In Philippi: “In view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now” (Philippians 1:5).  In Colossae: “Because of the hope laid up for you in heaven, of which you previously heard in the word of truth, the gospel” (Colossians 1:5).  In Thessalonica: “Having so fond an affection for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us” (1 Thessalonians 2:8).  And everywhere Paul went: “According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which I have been entrusted” (1 Timothy 1:11).

The power of the gospel brings eternal life to all who believe.  Paul knew the truth of the gospel.  I hope and pray you know this same truth.  Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15).

May God bless you with His grace, love and truth!
