Love One Another

“A new command I give you: Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

Last week we had a great start of school!  During the First Day of School Convocation and our first Chapel, we prayed that God would overwhelm our school with his grace and love so that we would “love one another.”  God commands us to love one another and the only way we can ever accomplish this great commandment is through our faith and love in Jesus Christ our Lord.  We will never have the right kind of love with others horizontally if we don’t have the right love relationship with God vertically in Christ.  The Great Commandment, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength; and your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:27) is made new and complete in Jesus Christ.  Listen again to His Words in John 13:34-35:

John13_34A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

It is “new” because of the resurrection power that Christ has given to those who believe in Him.  We have the power to love one another with the love of God because God has made us “new” in Christ Jesus.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!           (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Praise God that we are made new in Christ and because of His great love for and through us, we can love one another with His love.  Only Christians can know this kind of love because it is “agape” – God’s love.  I hope and pray that you know this kind of love that only comes from a loving relationship with Jesus Christ.

May God bless you with His grace, love and truth!
